Apparel Decoration Methods

Screen Printing

Screen printing or silk screen printing is particularly done on clothes or surfaces. To do the print, the framed screen is positioned over the cloth or item to be printed and thick layer of ink is applied to it. After that cloth is placed on a conveyor belt through a heat-tunnel. This technique does not crack, fade or peel the imprint design on items, and will last the life of the shirts.

Embroidery

What is Embroidery?

Embroidery is an elegant and stylish way to decorate or personalize any garment or embroidery friendly item.

The digitized image is saved on disk and loaded to the embroidery machine. The machine uses the digital instructions to create your design with threads. The number of stitches that the machine needs to make, the quantity of items being embroidered, and the location of the embroidery determines the embroidery cost.

Any design that will need more than just keyboard lettering will have to be digitized. Digitizing is the process of taking an image of your logo and converting into stitches using specialized software developed especially for the embroidery industry. Refer to our Digitizing  section to learn more on digitizing.

Limitations for Embroidery

There are a few limitation we would like our customers to be aware of:
– Text on your logo must be larger than 5mm or 1/4″ tall
– Left chest design should be no larger than 4 inches wide

Ways to change design dimensions include:
– Change Lower case lettering into Uppercase.
– Eliminate some of the letters or place the letters on 2 or more lines.
– Arc the lettering around the logo.

Digitizing

Digitizing is the art of converting a picture or image into stitches by using specialized software and must be done to prepare the garment for embroidery. We prefer designs to be sent as vector files in formats AI, EPS, . Bitmap files are also accepted (JPG, BMP, GIF or TIF). If you already have your artwork file digitized, simply provide it to your representative in the order process.

Changes in the artwork may be necessary for the embroidery to look clean. Lettering that is too small or excessive details on paper may not translate into a well embroidered design. After the design is digitized, a test sample is sewn prior to being placed on a garment.
